A visit to Penang Pesta

Over the weekend, we visited Penang Carnival (Pesta). This is my return to the site for not going in about twenty years. oh my. Kids and adults alike are having lots of fun playing in the fun park. Hubby says it's like time returning to the seventies eighties. Indeed.

Kids weekend activity

It's weekend. I reintroduced one of their favorites play - play tent.
As soon as the play tent is being set-up, the kids realized that it needed a 'door'. Without wasting much time, I quickly gathered up all the fabrics needed for that particular 'door panel'. da...da...that little quilt cover is their 'door' now. One little funny thing was that they even waited patiently whilst the mom works her magic out to construct their 'door' in the middle of the night. The easy-to-satisfy kids are amazed and feel very delighted over the new addition to their hide away. The younger one even proclaimed this and saying "Luckily we have one very genius person in this house!" When I asked further who is the person, then he says: "You lah..." hmmm.....I've been doing all these; caring, tendering...them, why is this gesture caught so much of their attention...I'm puzzled...Whatever it is, as long as they are happy, I'm happy too.

Details further to the above, that hide away means has many of their loves - pillows, blankets, softy bears, books and etc, but also not forgetting their torch!

Have a great weekend, friends!

A good outing

My son's art class conducted an outing yesterday which 'me too' participated. Thinking for not being the 'helicopter mom', it was only the 2nd half session that I went to peep at him. Man, that's a wonderful trip for both students and adults alike. They went to temple, Penang Heritage Chew Jetty, biggest Bomba in town, analyzing fire trucks and also not forget to draw and make art work at the station. In this remote country of ours, we rarely compliment over whatever deeds others have done be it for us or the rest of us. I told one of the teacher that having such an outing was such a wonderful experience for our kids. They learned whilst having some fun which not just confined to the four walls classroom learning. It's definitely a good outing.
ps: These are unrelated picture, the orchids in my house are blooming. I didn't bring my camera during the art outing. sigh!

A treasure within the treasure

School holidays start. We're back to nature, into the woods and by the sea. I've been to this Southbay seaside some ten years ago. And yesterday we were back to this place again despite it is only at a walkable distance of fifteen minutes from my home! What a shame that I don't treasure it as I supposed to be!
It's a treasure within the treasure of this island, far from the business of city and soaking ourselves in calm and peacefulness. Both my kids were amazed, excited and feel the trip was full of adventure. They learned and making discovery along the way. The local hobbies are at their usual selves finding seashells that would make a good meal. Yum...

World Children Day

Last weekend was World Children Day. Over here in Penang, we had a great time celebrating with children at MPPP Park. It was part of a charity event whereby tickets are needed to purchase food and products on sale. It was totally a surprise invitation from a friend of mine, ML. She handed the tickets to me as she and family were unable to attend in an impromptu situation. Everybody seems enjoying their full cup of KokoKrunch in fresh cold milk. Yum yum...
There were horses and I'm specially fond of them. I think I was thrilled as much as the kids ; )

Chives and a lost subscription

My younger son came back with his subscription of Good Friend, but the other one is left with lost subscription, meaning that we had paid but the teacher did not give him the magazine. gosh... looks like I need to go 'see teacher' again soon. Frankly speaking, I don't really like to be present at the teacher's office unless it's quite necessary. Experiences did tell me that it's better don't show face there, the teachers tend to be pleasant, forgiving, fierce, autocratic, ...  since they don't like to see us, we also don't like to see them...shhhh, don't say I say one harrr...
This is just a little hiccups in life, let's talk about other pleasant things that's happening around...
We sow some seeds during the weekend, among them are kai lan, brinjal, chilli...  but chives which we sow earlier are growing well. We have another 3 pots of mature chives plant which we do harvest them from time to time. In cooking, it goes well in fried noodles and char koay teow. Sometimes, my mother does come to get it for her cooking usage.
Did you see the drawstring bags which I just successfully made it? It's an addiction, once you know how to make one, you'll just wanted to make another and another. Sometimes there are requests from children, husband that they want to keep their camera, recorder, as their outdoor pouch and etc...I'm thinking to list down the steps and tutorial in making this drawstring bag. Hope I have that momentum soon.

 Happy Tuesday, friends!

Train ride to zoo

It's school holidays, we brought our children for our first train ride. It's a wonderful experience overall despite some delayed of two-hour during our trip back from Taiping. We managed to stop over at Taiping Zoo to pay some visit to friends of nature. The pictures above are not in proper manner but you could get the idea of what were around...That squirrel was one of my best captured moments. He went to macaws' captivity to get that corn on the cob and run back to the top of the tree to enjoy his meal... hah... a smart action, isn't he?! I like his super cute posing. Hope you have a wonderful trip too. Cheers!
