Pre-school - comments?

Since mid April I quit my kids from attending pre-school as I want them to play learn instead of mainly learn from their text books and exercise books.

Secondly, I don't have a good feeling with those pre-school which over commercialised their educational centre instead of instilling good learning culture to our young children.

Worst is, there are daily homework for a 4yo @%!@#? I feel frustrated and tormented have to force my son to write pages and pages of alphabet without failed everyday. When I feel that an A4 size writing page is too much for a N2 kid, I only managed to force him to write for half a page yet that already coupled with crying on and off. The next day, the teacher wrote a comment asking to complete the page... I checked it out with school authority, they said there's market demand for homework!

To me, the teaching and learning lost its meaning when come to the end stage to FORCE. How are they going to learn the stress free way? Can this foster their learning interest? How to get them ready for life-long learning in years to come? How much damage that they had caused in the little brain, can u imagine?

I teach on my own too. I feel bad the way some teacher would rather pleased the parents instead of nurture children the right way.

My plant is sick

This bacteria attack your plant before? Look at mine, sickening when you look at it. It has been sick for more than a month. Can't bear to see my "Bai Wan Fu Wong" Millionaire plant dying.

Plant tend to sick more often if you planted it indoor, they need extra care. Well, after few days of 'therapy', it is getting better. I changed the pesticide to organic type. I believed 2-3week more, it will be recovered completely.

Name Hanger

Some little cute handicraft caught my attention, this is the latest one that I found. Bought the packed craft kit with customised name.

Good to hang at kid's room. It is Sweet right...

What is the 'right' method or approach? Teaching?

I think Mr. Zanurin did some psychology study before coming up with this title in his presentation "What is the 'right' method or approach?" in developing writing skills among the lower-intermediate ESL Learners.hmm... I'm caught too. Otherwise, won't land myself in this session.

Interestingly, that also proves that common sense works! as my believe and practice. Obviously, motherhood makes me smarter... ha.haa...
I've downloaded few copies of info. shared by Mr. Zanurin, for those who need it, can download here, especially for Cikgu Hamimah. It may not up to your expectation as my photo editing skill no good. sorry...

Really missed a lot of things as I left my digital camera at home. If not, can take photo with Dr. Catherine Wallace., & other new teacher friends, & many more. really missed la......

Char Koay Teow Recipe

thinking of eating char koay teow. penang famous hawker food. waiting for kids to wake up, we then head to morning market bought the ingredients. as my children too love this treat, i stir fried it without chilli paste and decided to 'keh liao' (with added ingredient) with big shrimp and jiu chai (chives). da...da... ready to eat. This is our lunch for today.

Thinking of getting one PDA?

As i'm a person who is organized in chaos which only me that know what put where, others don't : ( this is a challenge to those who need information fast and when I'm not presence. in order to help, hubby get me a PDA with the hope that I'll store informations inside especially those contacts. and I will only use quality handy-dandy gadget. as life is getting mobile, i think we gotta be more organize in handling and storing all sorts of details & informations.

Water powder. still in used?

As I'm busy catching up learning with new gadgets and many other things, I frequently leave my children at mom's place for a few hours. When they come back, you will be amused with 'new thing' that they learned at grandparent's place.

One of the most common 1 is they would say: "Chiak kofee, chiak beehoon! chiak kofee, chiak beehoon" loudly. u know why? they called their grandpa's staff for coffee break... @; ) 2 loud walking speaker which running wild...

Another practise is - they asked me to apply water powder on their face whenever after bath. Kids really catch up new thing fast - both good & bad one...!

Dinner at cafe

when the little ones at their grandpa's place, we sneak to enjoy a peaceful dinner at this Little Cafe near Bayan Lepas. I ordered cornflakes chicken chop while hubby took tornado spaghetti set. this cafe promise wifi service, but the networking is protected. how to surf like that??? another promised service that never 'deliver'!

Pineapple treat

The one and only pineapple grow at our backyard. After planted it for almost 3 years, finally fruitful. in between dunno bought how many eaten liao lorr. die la if really wait for it.

It is a good experience as hubby dunno how exactly a pineapple tree bears it fruit. He initially tot that the fruit is underneath the tree. couldn't imagine....Its fruit grows on the tree as new leaves develope, but it turned out to be the fruit instead of leaves. too late, cut it out from the tree before a photo shot when it still intact to the tree.

my kids look at it as alien - poky stuff.

Irresistable Prawn

As all in my family hooked to homecook food, sometimes I'm running out of idea what to cook. Sound familiar? As I usually will buy extra ingredient to store in the fridge, prawn is one of my top choice. It's easy to prepare for a shrimp dish.

This 1 was reminded by hubby about this dish for lunch over the weekend. Cheesy look right? Because it is with cheddar cheese toppled on it : )) also one of my creativity with some fresh herb from our little backyard. coincidently my youngest brother came over and got the chance to savour this as well. After taken, one would ask for moooore....

Picnic At Teluk Kumbar Beach

This is the privilege of staying in resort island. We frequently bring our kids for nature activities. A free & eazy way is picnic. They really have fun. Look at them playing in this big pool. I just let them indulge themselves in this close to nature activities as the way I was brought up.

We usually went to the beach on Sunday morning. We did it really impromptu way without planning in advanced. Just pack & leave. Grab a few food stuff from wet market say nasi lemak, nyonya kuih and kopi, my favourite. Very very enjoyable and relaxing breathe the breeze after hectic work life. More updates on nature-fun in time to come. don't be jealous....

Denim's Bag

Went to the market and found this bag. Bought one home and started to touch up a bit onto it. This is the outcome after the make over.

aiyah... should buy a few more as it's good supply to craft, and there are a few denim colour tone as well and crafted it differently. I usually stuff it with a digital camera, a purse and a small water tumbler for my sons. Nice to carry around. And no duplication in the market! I'm proud of my artwork : ))

LadyFingers

Have you seen lady finger's plant before? This is the 1 if you haven't. They entirely 'safe' me from dining out sometimes. I will just steamed it fresh or cook with sambal belacan (shrimp paste chilli sauce). May be you can just top up with fried eggs and dinner is done in less than 30min. easy to cook ne...Fast & delicious!!! yummy.....!#@?!*

Homegrown Lime

I grow lime tree at the backyard of my house. Happy to see when it bears fruits ^_^
When want to cook canned sardine fish, this dearly fruit is a great help especially when running of out stock ...just plug it and cook fresh from tree.

Lime can be multipurpose if you know it's usage. It is a good agent to marinate in our cooking especially for meat & seafood.

Not only that, if you are hardworking enough, you can even marinate it with honey to serve as refreshing drink. See what I get : P simply cooling and 100% organic!

1st May Buffet Lunch

Our family yearly event, 1st May celebration. Wanna know how we spent our 1st May buffet for year 2008? da...da... went for buffet lunch at E & O Hotel, Penang. The hotel is at downtown Pg, refurbished from an old building site. Yet, it is situated next to seaside view. Not expensive la, as it cost around RM50+ net per adult. You can get BBQ seafood, Hainan chicken rice, sushi, noodles, laksa, tropical fruit and other oriental delights. Know what I like most, it is BBQ pineapple! Scrumptious and juicy with natural sweetness. Just marvelous.

Go la, if got the chance.
