Adenium flowers and a pencil pouch

We have been to year end's floral fair held at Penang Botanical Garden, an event that is not-to-be missed by me, it's a beautiful place with blooming Adenium flowers. Coming back home one day, my son tells me that if it's not wrong there are almost twenty Adenium plants outside our home that he just counted. Oppsss... I just bought another three! I used my way to convince him that it's a normal thing for an addicted plant hobbyist to add collection to the species, and make sure we grow it well.  Now, they start to question me over unnecessary spending of money. Another favorite excuse is - "long long time bought once, it's okay one.." So, as long as you like the thing, just say you haven't buy it for a looooong time, then they'll give in to let you buy ;))

I'm making another Jess sunblouse which would be my new year blouse, but it has been weeks I can't finish one, then I carry on to make a desired zippered pencil pouch requested by the little ones - "a bigger in size one compared with the existing one and able to sit on the table type." I personalized the pencil pouch with their drawing and embroidered the picture onto it. It's my favorite do with pencils and pouches, and needles and threads...

Active Bird Nest

We found this new bird nest on our pine tree outside our home a few weeks ago. As they can't fully reach the height of the nest, the excited and curious children of mine keep checking the bird nest daily by putting their hands in if could sense any eggs. The birds didn't disappoint them. We should expect new birdies soon.

A good outing

My son's art class conducted an outing yesterday which 'me too' participated. Thinking for not being the 'helicopter mom', it was only the 2nd half session that I went to peep at him. Man, that's a wonderful trip for both students and adults alike. They went to temple, Penang Heritage Chew Jetty, biggest Bomba in town, analyzing fire trucks and also not forget to draw and make art work at the station. In this remote country of ours, we rarely compliment over whatever deeds others have done be it for us or the rest of us. I told one of the teacher that having such an outing was such a wonderful experience for our kids. They learned whilst having some fun which not just confined to the four walls classroom learning. It's definitely a good outing.
ps: These are unrelated picture, the orchids in my house are blooming. I didn't bring my camera during the art outing. sigh!

Plant more...

It rained for the first time since Chinese New Year and we have a good nite sleep. Everyone is longing for more downpour since the dam water are running low. Since the weather turned extreme recently, one practical way to curb it is to plant more. We had visited to floral fair held at the entrance to Botanical Garden and bought lots of orchid plants and fruit trees for planting.

These plants are in my wish lists. The fair will be held again in June during mid-term school holidays. So, just keep an eye on it...

Grow Green

Sometime ago, I visited to a fruit farm in Kamunting, Kedah. The farmers there grow a lot of tapioca of this type - red skin with yellow flesh of our local potato. My favourite.

Then, I asked for a few samples to grow at our little backyard. This is the results after planting it for more than 1-month. Still need 2 to 3 months in order to yield for harvest...

Another rustic find that I love very much...good for use to make eco-enzime ...

new Orchid - welcome

new member in my house - orchid. a friend of mine bought a few species of orchid for her garden, I oso got a few 'gifted'. those plant hobbist will always look for plants to add-in into their collections from time to time - thanks a lot to her aunty Yen. new collection is the most top one in the pic.

We feel happy when the plant is blooming with flowers. Once an orchid is blooming, its flower could last for 2months - 5months depends on how it is been taken care of. but when no flower, no mood lol...

My plant is sick

This bacteria attack your plant before? Look at mine, sickening when you look at it. It has been sick for more than a month. Can't bear to see my "Bai Wan Fu Wong" Millionaire plant dying.

Plant tend to sick more often if you planted it indoor, they need extra care. Well, after few days of 'therapy', it is getting better. I changed the pesticide to organic type. I believed 2-3week more, it will be recovered completely.

LadyFingers

Have you seen lady finger's plant before? This is the 1 if you haven't. They entirely 'safe' me from dining out sometimes. I will just steamed it fresh or cook with sambal belacan (shrimp paste chilli sauce). May be you can just top up with fried eggs and dinner is done in less than 30min. easy to cook ne...Fast & delicious!!! yummy.....!#@?!*

Homegrown Lime

I grow lime tree at the backyard of my house. Happy to see when it bears fruits ^_^
When want to cook canned sardine fish, this dearly fruit is a great help especially when running of out stock ...just plug it and cook fresh from tree.

Lime can be multipurpose if you know it's usage. It is a good agent to marinate in our cooking especially for meat & seafood.

Not only that, if you are hardworking enough, you can even marinate it with honey to serve as refreshing drink. See what I get : P simply cooling and 100% organic!
